Jen – nice podcast. Thanks again to all the Pigskin sponsors and picking me!

Here are some hints for your grandma’s socks. Due to an injury last summer, I’m not as flexible as I was, so I have made some modifications for my socks. Usually I knit 56 stitch socks, on size 2.25 mm needles. However, I’m finding those socks difficult to get on my feet, and most importantly over my heel. I’ve now switched to a 64 stitch sock. If knit cuff down, I cast on using a German twisted cast on over two 2.50mm needles. I knit the ribbing with the 2.50 mm needles and then switch to the 2.25mm needles for the leg. When I start the gusset, I switch to the 2.50 needles and knit the gusset and heel turn with these needles. Then I go back to the 2.25 mm needles for the foot and toe. I’m finding these socks fit me better and are much easier to put on. Maybe this will work for your grandma.
