November Interception: Punt!

Sometimes during the game, a team needs to just call it like it is, switch up the direction of play and punt the ball to the other team. Another chance to advance their score will come again, but in the moment, punting can be the best decision.

We’ve all gotten a lot of practice with punting things in our personal and professional lives in 2020. I’ve heard stories from all of you about needing to switch directions, change plans and adapt to the ever changing set of parameters in front of you. For the November Interception sponsored by Fibernymph Dye Works, we’re going to see what projects you need to punt to make them work for you. This challenge is all about making substitutions from what a pattern calls for as a way of making sure it works for you (your materials, your skill levels, your aesthetic preference etc).

Ideas for punts include: Using a yarn other than what a pattern recommends; changing the gauge or yarn weight for a pattern to work with the yarn you have; adding some kind of design element to an otherwise plain pattern (stripes, cables lace etc); modifying a pattern in some way to better suit you (add more or less increases/decreases, add length etc)  starting over on a project that didn’t work out before and changing something about how you’re doing it this time (if you do this, the original project can be cast on before the Pigskin Party began, but you can’t begin working on your punt project until 11/1).  This is not meant to be an exhaustive list. If you’re changing a pattern, it counts.
