Fall shawl style: Tan House Brook Shawl

Finally starting to feel like fall here. Cool mornings. First day wearing a shawl this year! Rocking my #fallshawlstyleLeftovers Socks | Down Cellar StudioTime to finish up these socks.  Using leftovers is risky business. I played some yarn chicken on my Monday night commute (and won)!Yoga | Down Cellar StudioYoga’s place in my routine has been sorely missed since May. I so appreciate finding a new teacher I click with.

Down Cellar StudioTook advantage of a later commute and some quiet back roads, to capture the beautiful sunset light in my neighborhood.

Down Cellar StudioTest Run | Down Cellar Studio Time from cast off until first wearing? Approximately 16 hours.

imageI planned to redeem the $50 in GapCash before I forgot about it. I didn’t realize there was a big promotion of their fall line going on. I scored some free Pumpkin beer and 30% off! Score!

Running Running progress. 1 mile. 10 minutes 10 seconds. Getting faster!

Train knitting Friday morning knitting + watching! Almost through the week!

imageFamily time on Saturday. A little soccer in my parents’ backyard after Garret’s first day of soccer practice. Riley was more excited about her “goal scoring dance” skills than fancy footwork.

imageWe saw Dolphin Tale 2 and then met my brother and sister-in-law for dinner. While we waited, we took the chance to get out some of the silliness before we went in. It was a lot of sitting for these little kiddos! They did great!

imageFirst rimmed, pumpkin beer of the season. My favorite: Shipyard

imageLots of first today: Some first crawling attempts too! Go Baby Ella!

imageYes, fall is upon us. The deer are getting darker. The fawns have lost their spots.

I’m enjoying fall into the rhythm of fall. Hope you had a good week too!

Life Looks Like: Week 36

It was a bit of an up-and-down week. Didn’t feel well from Wednesday until mid-day Saturday so the photos are a little sparse. However, the weekend was pure joy!

Tuesday | September 2, 2014imageWaiting on the train platform. Thankful for sunshine (even though it was hot) and a bit of a breeze in my new flowy skirt.

imageI went to the gym because it was so hot (and I figured practice on the treadmill might be good  prep for winter). Then I realized the AC at my gym isn’t industrial strength. It was hot and hard and just plain weird. But I did it!

Wednesday | September 3, 2014

imageAnother hot day Wednesday. Rocking another maxi- a dress this time. Another great find from Stitch Fix. Work flew by. So much for getting out early (even though Dan dropped me off at 5:20a). I called and talked to my niece, Riley, in the afternoon. She was on her way home from her first day of first grade! Getting so big!

image

imageI worked on Dan’s worsted weight socks waiting for the train. A bit of peace at the end of a hectic afternoon.

imageI took the train and then had to walk a mile to pick up my car from the shop. Just regular maintenance and oil change after hitting 100,000 miles. She’ll be 7 years old in October! Love my Ford!

Thursday | September 4, 2014

imageWent home sick and slept for 2 hours. Didn’t have much energy in the evening either, but the official kick off of the #DCSPigskinParty KAL (and NFL football) perked me up! I cast on some new socks to celebrate!

Friday | September 5, 2014

imageFriday was a low-key day. Dan was away for the weekend, so I enjoyed the clean house, watched TV, and just plain relaxed!

Saturday | September 6, 2014

imageAfter visiting with Mom and Nana in the morning, watching American President [a classic] and taking a swim, we headed over to Will & Aila’s Lemonade and Popsicle stand to raise money for our Run of Hope (on Sunday) to benefit Pediatric Cancer. The most effective selling strategy was for them to hold their sign and smile close to the road.

imageWill had fun making signs. Love this one! [Line on the bottom reads: It’s for the sick kids]

imagePretty sure the two kids drank more than the sold but they raised $72!

Sunday | September 7, 2014

image6 Adults + 5 Kids= Together in Gold!

image The kids enjoyed some time at the playground before it was time to line up for the run/walk. imageI did it! I ran my first 5k! My first mile was my fastest yet [10:25]. Mile 2= 11:01. Mile 3= 11:39. Probably could have improved my time on the end there. I got a little confused about the course and got a little lax thinking I had further to go, but I sprinted across the finish!

image imageCame home and some good old Sunday afternoon football knitting. The Patriots stunk. The knitting is always fun!

Hope you had a good week!

A little late. Those Monday holidays throw us all off, don’t they?

Monday | 8.25.14

Morning Run then hair cut & color at home with friends. Last day of vacation.Monday | Cut & Color- Down Cellar Studio

Tuesday | 8.26.14

Back to work after vacation. Car hit 100,000 miles on the way to the train. Love my Ford Escape Hybrid. Can’t believe it’s almost 7 years old.

After work I hit the gym for the first time in awhile. Got my Zumba on which was a nice change of pace. For more on that, check out this post.

Wednesday | 8.27.14

Registed for a Getting Things Done seminar for work [but I’m really excited for it personally too!]! I’m currently reading David Allen’s book Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity {affiliate link}

Train Knitting: Mitered Squares using Infinite Twist Yarn.

Thursday | 8.28.14

Finished my #c25k program on my phone and got my fastest mile yet. Still not hitting 5k in 30 minutes but apparently that’s normal. I’m striving for continual progress.

I joined some friends at a local pub to see our favorite country band, Whiskey Wild, featuring two of our good friends! So much fun!IMG_8699

Saturday | 8.30.14

Started the long weekend off with a run. Didn’t improve my pace but I got in my first  full 3 mile run! #justkeepmoving

I ran errands and noticed Mom’s post on Facebook that she was taking my niece Riley shopping. I was in the same plaza so I met up with them, and a few minutes later we ran into my grandmother! IMG_87354 generations in a dressing room. Can you tell who was having the most fun?

Knitting after my chores were doneIMG_8754

…which then turned into my {ahem, lame} version of Happy Hour! That’s lemonade {which is watered down} but I enjoyed it! I started knitting on my Cool Clavical Cover which I’d been clamoring to cast on.

My friend Megg & her family were back from Ireland and invited friends over for dinner and games. I picked up a new-to-me IPA recommended by my friend.
IMG_8758I arrived to find out my brother, who I didn’t know was coming, brought the same exact beer! Weird! (p.s. LOVE having him back in town so that this can happen)

IMG_8761Dinner for 5 crazy kids first.

IMG_8764Silly boys!

Then it was play time for the adults. Can’t get enough of how funny this game was. And yes, it’s best when combined with good beer + knitting.

Sunday | 8.31.14

8:15a Yoga with Mom. A lovely way to start the day. Hung out at her house for a bit and tackled some creative things. Continued that talk into lunch at Be Good. Love that place, but Mom just turned me on to their salads! Wow!

After lunch we took Mom to the Apple store where she bought her first Mac- a Mac Book Pro!IMG_8776

Then it was time to put off the Grocery Shopping that I had foregone when back-to-school shopping sounded far more interesting.IMG_8778

This exists?IMG_8777

Monday | 8.31.14

Dan came back from his motorcycle trip and we spent longer than I had planned catching up and telling stories. Before I knew it was after 10am and scorching hot. But I had it on my list to run and even though I didn’t want to- I went. IMG_8804I came home too tired to even shower right away. 2 miles in the heat= beat. I laid on the floor in the closet for awhile… Gross! #worthit #justkeepmoving

Monday | 09.01.14 | Labor Day

I finalized the plans for the #DCSPigskinParty KAL and recorded Episode 52 of the PodcastIMG_8820Life is good! Hope you had a great week too!
